September In The City

Soooo I start working next week- starting Monday you can find me at Yelp where I will be being a real life adult who does adult things. That sounded convincing enough, right? I don't think I've ever felt more like a child, like who let me graduate and who the hell let me turn 22??? This whole growing up thing is stressful af but I really am excited to be starting something new. And of course, I'm excited to be shopping for new clothes! (I'll take any excuse to get new things. As a wise man once said, "Love? Love fades away. But things? Things are forever" -Tom Haverford, Parks and Rec)

I was considering wearing this outfit to my first day but decided to try to find something more special for my First Day of Real Life. I ended up wearing it to hang out with friends in the city since it's my last week of freedom and I'm trying to do everything I ever wanted ASAP which is the unnecessarily long story of how this outfit post was brought to life~

I layered a cream colored linen jacket over a basic black t-shirt (let's take a moment to appreciate how NOT HOT IT IS ANYMORE. HALLEJUAH. I LOVE FALL WEATHER) and paired it with a delicately embroidered black tulle skirt. I loveeeee tulle skirts because I feel like a ballerina and you know I love to make all my childhood dreams come true.

Anyway, now that's it's fall, I'm drawn to darker shades like maroon that suit the season. I was never one for being matchy matchy but I loved matching my shoes and bag to the tiny rosettes on my skirt! I think it really ties the look together- any more colors would be overwhelming while any less might feel too somber.

I've been wearing simpler jewelry than I usually do- I just love the dainty air that comes with delicate jewelry like this thin layered necklace. It adds a little sparkle while still being professional (because I am a Professional now) and also matches the gold detailing on my jacket.

Also, I swear I've lost the ability to wear heels without dying so comfy flats are a must for my work wardrobe. I love these Audrey Brooke flats- I actually have them in black too! The scalloped edges add a little whimsy and style to otherwise basic shoes, and they're unbelievably comfortable.

I still can't believe that I'm going to be starting work in just two days- where did all the time go??? I really better go find something to wear on Monday...hope you all have a great weekend!
