Pretty in Pink (& Black!)

Full disclosure: these pictures are actually from awhile ago but I figured I might as well post them since it's way too cold to take new outfit photos anytime soon. I think this look might qualify as business casual (at least in my world). Maybe business formal if I switched to a pair of black pumps. Wait, is business formal even a thing? (*war flashbacks to the rushing for a sorority and trying to figure out what 'snappy casual' means*)

Here I'm wearing a high-collared pale pink lace dress (Forever 21) with a deconstructed black blazer (H&M) and my handy dandy brown riding boots (Steve Madden). I like to keep things simple, in terms of a color palette, so with this outfit I'm sticking to shades of pink contrasting with black.

Brunching: Jack's Wife Freda (Carmine St.)

I'm a big fan of brunch.
First of all, most of- okay, all of- my days start roughly around 1pm. Which means by the time I wake up, breakfast has come and gone, lunch has been eaten by most of the general human population, and if I want to get a meal in before dinner comes swinging around, I better go get some brunch.

More Fashion Week Shenanigans

Had some more New York Fashion Week adventures with the lovely Julia (a fellow Kappa at NYU & a blogger) because we're too cool for school, duh.

New York Fashion Week

I'm swamped with school work so I haven't got much time to write out lengthy descriptions of what I've been up to but the gist of this past week is that Fashion Week is incredible and I am so grateful to be able to be part of such an exciting time!
Tragically I am not an editor at a fashion magazine nor am I a celebrity, but I have still managed to get myself into a few shows and events. It's been a really great adventure for me and has confirmed my dreams of working in the fashion industry.

Anyway, here's some of the photo's I've been taking! I'll be uploading more soon :)

If you're still scrambling for that perfect date outfit, I've got one right here for you: le classic romantic, because I wanted to make up a cool name (I'm trying, okay???).

DIY Valentine's Day Cards

Let's be real: Valentine's Day sucks unless you're in a relationship. If you do, congratulations- you're one of the lucky few who don't feel awkward and weird about a holiday that celebrates something you don't have. Last year I got a Build-a-Bear dressed in a cute little suit and boxes of chocolate. This year I'll be buying myself a big bottle of wine and possibly flowers, because I just really like flowers and despite Jenny's advice to get on Tinder to find a Valentine, I think I'll stick to Netflix this upcoming weekend.

That being said, I decided to try to make the most of this Valentine's Day by making cards for my friends instead of moping around and feeling sorry for my very single self.

Crafting is always a fun way to procrastinate schoolwork, and I think it's important to show your friends that they matter to you.

Black is Still the New Black

Right by the East Village streets that NYU claims as a makeshift campus is this one street everyone loves to take pictures at. The apartments are all adorably chic, and you almost feel like you're walking in the streets of Paris or another European city. It's one of my favorite places to walk by when I need a break from the hustle and bustle of NYC- the street's sectioned off with a gate, making it a perfect sanctuary. Plus, it looks great on your snapstory (always an important factor~).

Today I wore a typical New Yorker ensemble: black leggings, black coat, black scarf, & a black hat. I'm wearing a magenta shift dress underneath my black armor, and it peeks out, offering a nice splash of color and reassuring strangers that no, I am not on my way to a funeral.

Coffee Shop Addiction: Chalait NYC

My coffee addiction is slowly but surely growing these days.
One of my favorite places to grab a pretty latte lately is Chalait, a sophisticated little joint on the corner of West 4th and Christopher Street. It's bright inside, with sunflowers tucked into embossed glass vases and round marble table tops adding that luxe feel.

(Two lattes to stay)

Dark & Defiant

There really is something about New York that makes you want to wear black all the time.

It's funny, because in high school my wardrobe was almost exclusively made up of whites & creams. In fact, by senior year my friends started staging interventions every time I tried to purchase yet another ivory cardigan or eggshell colored dress.

Regardless, I've fully embraced the whole all black/too cool for colors vibe. Mostly because for whatever reason, my black clothes are what fit best right now. My usual array of high-waisted white skater skirts and colorful tops were all purchased during skinnier summer days...so until my nightly trips to the gym start to make a difference, I'll probably stick to wearing what's comfortable, which just so happens to be all of my black clothing items. Go figure.

Coffee Shop Addiction: La Colombe

La Colombe is a scary, scary coffee shop to go for the first time.

To begin with, there's no menu- you've just gotta know your order. For those of you actually addicted to coffee, this is no big deal. But for newbies like me who just recently started frequenting coffee shops (mostly for the Instagram posts, I can admit that), the lack of a menu is pretty damn intimidating. Today I just stuck to ordering a latte (to stay), as well as a chocolate croissant because I'm taking the 'Treat Yo Self 2017" movement very seriously (to the dismay of my poor sad wallet).

Treat Yo Self: Pinkberry

I love froyo. A lot. So when I found out that Pinkberry was having a ten-cent promotion for their ten year celebration, I poured out my piggybank (well it's actually a pug bank I guess) and grabbed my friend Gabby.

Honestly, last semester was all about drinking and boys- not bad things at all, but I'm trying to turn over a new leaf. I've spent these first two weeks at NYU spending more time with friends and getting more involved with my sorority, and it feels pretty nice. I slipped and did some drinking this past weekend (funny post coming soon about that) but I'm doing good with the staying away from whole meaningless hookup thing (don't get me wrong, they're fun) (but I've realized I want + deserve something different and better) (also I'm lying a little here, when I got drunk I texted British Boy back) (now he keeps texting) (will I actually go hang out with him??) (we'll see).

ANYWAY, back to Pinkberry:

(This cost us 22cents!!!! I'm still happy about this!!!!)
